Guide VERON des Champagnes 2012
(around 25 euros per bottle)
In a strong position because of its 147 members on a vineyard of 325 hectares located in the heart of the Côte of the Bar in the Arce valley, the winegrowers’ coop of Chassenay d’Arce is making a Champagne of high expression.
The presentation of this Champagne in a special flask
is elegant and refined.
Appearance :
- Golden yellow
- Fine bubbles
- Closed-in Cordon
Aroma :
- Its great complexity causes straightaway an intense emotion
- First nose marked by overtones of toasted brioche buns and cocoa. This
translates the great maturity of this Pinot Noir Champagne obtained by a
long ageing on lath, perfectly mastered by Brice Bécard, the Chef of the
cellar
- The nose develops towards honey and gingerbread peppered with red fruits, apple, pear and a touch of cinnamon.
Taste :
- Frank attack thanks to a judicious dosage (8g/L of sugar added at
the disgorging), immediately replaced by an open and fleshly roundness, accompanied with intense
flavors on candied fig and prune, translation of the great vintages (1998,
1999, 2000, 2002) stemming from the old vineyards of this blending
- Deliciously spicy finale (pepper, liquorice)
- Outstanding length on the palate.
This Blending Confidences Brut is
endowed with a strong and sensuous personality. It highlights the Colors of the
Côte des Bar and of the Valley of the Arce.
Even if it fills you with wonder as an aperitif, one will appreciate it all along the meal served with fish or poultry.
