Wine-growers and producers for over 5 generations, the Champagne House of Verrier et Fils cultivates 10 hectares of vineyard, planted with three champenois varietals, divided over 35 plots, in the terroir of Etoges, Fèrebrianges, Beaunay and Epernay, following the traditional method. Producing and selling around 30,000 bottles of Champagne per year.

Complex and delicious, thanks to the long 6 month
delay between disgorgement of the bottles and commercialisation

Opening with notes of citrus fruits (lime and
grapefruit), a signature of Chardonnay, the sole varietal of this Cuvée,
obtained from Coteaux du Petit Morin, in the south-facing terroir of
Etoges and Etrechy, in Epernay and Sézanne
·
Subtle woody notes and delicately vanilla, obtained by
vinification of part of the base wines in new 205L oak barrels, perfectly mastered
· Then, the nose reveals elegant hints of fresh butter and hazelnut, obtained by the lengthy ageing sur lattes of the bottles before the ancestral disgorgement on the spot (4 years)
Palate :
- Instantly
expressing wonderful balance between refreshing liveliness, almost
mineral, and a dense and creamy roundness, thanks to the carefully
selected plots of age-old vineyards (20 years)
- Dominant
note of citrus fruit, together with candied apple and pear
- Ample
and caressing finish
- Great length on the palate
This Cuvée Elégance illustrates the savoir-faire of Emmanuel Verrier, the producer. A wonderful reward for responsible and environmentally friendly wine growing and production methods used by the Champagne House of Verrier et Fils.
Drink as an aperitif, or during a meal, with a seafood platter or why not, with a potato and two salmon lasagne.
