Guide VERON des Champagnes 2012
(around 24 euros per bottle)
The Sanger Champagne was born
in 1952 from the willingness of a handful of students to equip the Lycée
Viticole of Champagne of a wine production and selling tool.
The winegrowers’ coop of former students is
established in Avize, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. It sells
130 000 bottles every year stemming from 35 terroirs among the most
prestigious in Champagne.
The presentation of this Champagne is original and
luxurious.
Appearance :
- Golden yellow
- Fine bubbles
- Brilliant and clear
- Persistent Cordon
Aroma :
- Rich, complex and elegant, it translates all the
sensuousness of the Chardonnay, source of intense and unusual emotions
- Subtle brioche and roasted overtones, expression of the maturity,
result of a long ageing on lath
- The bouquet then develops towards delicious tinges of tobacco, hazelnut, honey, beeswax and crystallized citrus.
Taste :
- Unlikely harmony between the tensed vividness, precise and mineral,
and the full-bodied roundness, almost fleshly, peppered with a hint of
praline
- Finale slightly acid and spicy (pepper)
- Impressive length on the palate.
With this blending Prestige 2005,
Nicolas Robert and Stéphane Blanc, responsible persons of the Cellar, promise
here a prestigious Champagne which discloses all the subtlety of the
confidential plots of the Chardonnay Grands Crus of the Avize Terroir in the
heart of the Côte des Blancs. It also gives the Lycée Viticole of Champagne a fine
image.
Ideal for a festive aperitif but also for special moments. To be served alone or to accompany refined toasts.
