Guide VERON des Champagnes 2012
(around
12 euros per bottle)
Philippe Thévenin settled in
the heart of the Côte des Bar, in Ville Sur Arce in the Aube County. With his
vineyard of nearly 6 hectares Philippe Thévenin highlights a responsible winegrowing
skill that meets the environmental values.
Its presentation is traditional.
Appearance :
- Golden yellow, intense
- Fine and festive bubbles
- Attractive Cordon
Aroma :
- Delightful
- Nice
aromatic palette
- First nose on fresh citrus (lemon, grapefruit), amazing, which is
the dominant characteristic of Chardonnay, although in minority (8 %)
- Development towards red fruits and plum aroma, expression of the 90
% of Pinot Noir and 2 % of Pinot Meunier
- Patience is rewarded by the appearance of sensual tinges of butter
and mild tobacco, signs of a maturity obtained by a well mastered ageing
on lath.
Taste :
- Nice balance between vividness and roundness,
result of a judicious selection of the blendings : livelier first
juices out of the press during the grapes pressing and light sugar dosage
after disgorging
- Delicious spicy overtones
(pepper)
- Citrus can be found in the elegant and slightly acid finale with
liquorice overtones
- Respectable length on the palate.
Because of its good value for money this Tradition Blending of
the Philippe Thévenin Champagne can be referred as a Champagne of pleasure. Thanks
to the work of Philippe Thévenin, its maker, it gives a good image of the noble
soils of the Côte des Bar.
It is the blending of all purposes from the aperitif to the meal.
