Tasting Evening of a selection of great Champagne cuvées
Mythical Champagne
One of the oldest Champagne Houses, the Champagne House of Lanson founded in 1760 became part of the Lanson BCC Group in 2006, worthy of its stability and international development. It perpetuates inimitable style, producing Champagnes that age exceedingly well, in which no malolactic fermentation takes place, sold in 5 continents and particularly in the United Kingdom.
Luxurious
looking, in a bright white glass bottle.
Appearance :
·
Gold with pale green glints
·
Limpid and bright
·
Very fine perlage
· Elegant and persistent bead
Nose :
·
Superb and intoxicating
·
Opening with brioche, butter, caramel,
honey and spiced bread, combined with subtle notes of roasted coffee, almost
vanilla-like, a superb expression of great maturity obtained by very lengthy
ageing sur lattes of the bottles before disgorgement, perfectly mastered
·
Then revealing candied citrus fruits
(lemon, grapefruit), white flowers, almond and exotic fruits (pineapple, kiwi),
signature of the ripe and perfectly healthy Chardonnay of 1999, and sole
varietal of this Cuvée, obtained from a selection of four Grand Cru
terroir in the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant, Chouilly and Oger)
· Left to breath it reveals gentle touches of apple and pear compote, apricot and raisin
Palate :
·
The attack reveals vital force, impressive and
elegant, indicating an impudent youth despite its vintage, based on minerality,
the result of carefully timed malolactic fermentation during vinification of
the base wines
·
The mouth then gradually develops, to achieve perfect
balance, almost paradoxical, between elegant liveliness and silky density,
alluring and caressing, which takes over the palate
·
Delicately smoky finish, with citrus fruits and spices
(pepper, cinnamon, vanilla), still sustained by its freshness
· Fabulous length on the palate
With this Noble Cuvée Blanc de Blancs 1999, Jean-Paul Gandon, Chef de Cave of the Champagne House of Lanson since 1986, signs a prestige Champagne with strong personality. It delivers a magnificent interpretation of Chardonnay, from the great terroir of the Côte des Blancs and the immense potential of the generous year of 1999.
Although it speaks for itself as an
aperitif, it is delicious with a seafood platter or cooked fish.
