Guide VERON des Champagnes 2013
(around 28 Euros per
bottle)
Located in Aÿ, a renowned Grand Cru village of Champagne, the
family-run Champagne House of Henri Goutorbe passionately produces and sells
around 180,000 bottles of Champagne a year.
Luxurious looking, in a generous sized bottle, specific to the Cuvées Spécial Club of the Club Trésors of Champagne.
Appearance :
·
Golden
·
Particularly fine perlage
·
Delicate and persistent bead
·
Bright
Nose :
·
Generous and alluring, a source of intense
deliciousness
·
Opening with notes of citrus fruits (lemon,
clementine, grapefruit), an elegant expression of the 25% Chardonnay, quickly revealing
delicious aromas of honey, spiced bread, cocoa and roasted coffee, thanks to
lengthy ageing sur lattes of the bottles (6 years), before disgorgement,
perfectly managed by René Goutorbe, the producer.
·
Left to breathe, you are rewarded with aromas of
raisins and dried apricots, but above all cherry liqueur and strawberry jam, probably
from the 75% Pinot Noir
Palate :
·
Pure, marked attack with a strikingly mineral
dominance, enjoyed throughout the tasting, a wonderful expression of the noble terroir
of Aÿ, classified as Grand Cru, from where the grapes were obtained
·
The palate then develops depth and complexity, with
notes of plum and red fruits
·
Delicately peppery finish, bolstered by gentle hints
of honey and caramel
·
Impressive length on the palate
