This blend was created to pay tribute to Rene Lalou, who worked for half a century to bring attention and emphasize the lands in the Champagne Region while he was directing the Maison G.H.Mumm
This Champagne is an original sober blend with a luxury presentation
Appearance :
- Golden yellow hue
- Fine and understated bubbles
- Tight and persistent Cordon
- Brilliant and amazingly bright as was the year 1998
Aroma :
- Outstanding, sensuous, almost fleshly
- First nose notable by touches of honey, beeswax, brioche and bun
resulting from a long ageing on lath well –mastered by Didier Mariotti,
Cellar Chief of the House
- The bouquet then evolves imperceptibly towards a sublime complexity
veering off to subtle overtones of candied citrus, fine butter, apricot
and dry grapes with white flowers and hazelnuts.
- One’s patience is rewarded by the heavenly appearance of cocoa and roasted coffee scents
Taste :
- Lively yet frugal attack to the palate due to a judicious dosage of
sugar (6g/l) which is quickly replaced by a perfect balance between an
unexpected intensity for a Champagne of this age and a voluptuous
roundness close to the fullness is realized.
- Recognizable citrus fruits and cocoa previously evidenced by the nose are now punctuated by delicious overtones of spices (liquorice, pepper…
- A finale pure and mineral, a true expression of a careful selection of the land among the twelve noble lands of Champagne.
