The House Duval-Leroy which
was born in 1859 from the marriage of two families is located in Vertus, in the
heart of the Côte of the Blancs. This company the capital of which is 100%
family oriented is run by Carol
Duval-Leroy. Its supply mostly made of
Chardonnay confers her Champagne an inimitable sharpness and elegance.
Its name is suggestive and enhances the importance of
women in the House. Its flask which was created by Jean Duval in 1991 can be
qualified of luxurious with its feminine and harmonious shape.
The 2000 Vintage is the fourth one of this Blending. It
replaces the Kings Blending after 1990, 1995 and 1996.

Aroma :
- Stirring and sensuous, one is straightaway intrigued by its
complexity and sharpness, expression of the 95% of Chardonnay stemming
from the great soils of the Côte of the Blancs classified Grands
Crus : Mont-Aigu of Chouilly, Chapelle of Avize, Terre de Noël of Oger,
Chétillon and Ailerand of Mesnil

- First
discreet nose on butter, brioche and buns, translation of an outstanding
maturity, result of a patient ageing on lath which allows the autolysis of
the yeast of the « prise de mousse »
- Patience is rewarded by a generous opening with a basis of vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, grilled bread, roasted coffee, result of a careful vinification in barrels of 80% of the base wines, accompanied with honey, beeswax, dried raisin and apricot.
Taste :
- Pure,
tensed and mineral attack emphasized by a judiciously low dosage of 6 g/L
added at the disgorging. It then quickly develops towards an ample
roundness thanks to the 5% of Pinot Noir
- Rare
presence on candied citrus and spices
- Deliciously
acidulous and refreshing finale
- Outstanding
length on the palate.
With this Blending Femme de Champagne Vintage 2000,
Carol Duval-Leroy, the President of the so-called House together with the
Cellar Chief, Sandrine Logette-Jardin, propose us a touching and elegant
masterpiece which mixes in an unexpected manner fondness and complexity.
To be served for the aperitif or all along your
festive meals to accompany seafood or why not a Madeira roast beef.
