Guide VERON des Champagnes 2013
(around

Mythical Champagne
The
36th vintage of this legendary cuvée, which began production
back in 1921.
The bottle is distinctive and incomparable.
Appearance :
·
Pale gold with delicate green glints
Remarkably fine perlage
·
Elegant bead
· Bright
Nose :
- Captivating
generosity
- Staggering complexity, the result of blending a selection of
quality grapes from 17 Grand Cru of Champagne, and in particular:
- Aÿ, Bouzy, Verzenay and Mailly, also the legendary Premier Cru
of Hautevillers for the Pinot Noir
- Avize, Chouilly, Cramant and Mesnil-sur-Oger for the Chardonnay
·
Sometimes with notes of butter, caramel,
brioche, pastries, toasted bread and skilfully roasted coffee, an expression of
lengthy ageing sur lattes of the bottles before disgorgement
· Sometimes with aromas of white flowers, hazelnut, peach, pear, lemon, grapefruit, apricot, raisins and exotic fruit, combined with subtle spices (pepper, cinnamon, vanilla)
Palate :
·
Sumptuous
·
Perfect balance between a complex, dense and intense
roundness and a mineral freshness, favoured by a delicate effervescence
·
Revealing the fine spices, walnut, hazelnut, fresh
citrus and exotic fruits
·
Delicately roasted finish, bolstered by an exquisite
almondy hint
· Exceptional length on the palate
With this Dom Pérignon Vintage 2002, reference to a mysterious and unrivalled champenois, Richard Geoffrey, Chef de Cave of the Champagne House of Dom Pérignon, signs a superb interpretation of the 2002 vintage. Knowingly bringing out the quintessence of the superb ripeness and health of the grapes harvested, thanks to meticulous, non-intervention oenology.
A source of rare and intense emotions,
delicious on any special occasion, as an aperitif with foie gras canapés
and spice bread for example.
