Guide VERON des Champagnes 2012
(around 26 euros
per bottle)
The
winegrowers’ coop of Champagne wines (CRVC) is established in Reims on a 5
hectares production site. With a capacity of some 29 million bottles, it has
been carrying on the know-how of the prestigious brand De Castelnau since 2003.
Its
presentation is traditional.
Appearance
:
·
Light yellow, fine bubbles
·
Refined and persistent Cordon
·
Clear and brilliant
Aroma :
·
Intense, hearty and sensuous, it immediately questions
·
Its subtle aromas of caramel and buns supported by
candied citrus (lemon, grapefruit), hazelnuts and grilled almond overtones reflect
the long ageing on lath which is perfectly mastered by Richard Dailly, Cellar
Master of the House
Taste :
·
Lively, pure and precise attack, expression of the
Chardonnay, and amazing for a Champagne of that age
·
The mouth then discloses a greedy and unctuous roundness, on citrus, hazelnuts and almonds
tinges, in keeping with the bouquet
·
Unexpected mouth finish, iodized and mineral shaded by
vanilla and pepper notes
· Exceptional length on the palate
This Brut
blending– Blanc de Blancs Vintage 1999 of the De Castelnau Champagne has an
amazing and engaging personality depicted by its original soil quite unusual
for the Chardonnay : Reims and Berru Mountains and Montgueux.
Ideal for a festive aperitif , together with salmon toasts. Or why not, to be served along the whole meal ?
