Guide VERON des Champagnes 2013
(40 Euros per bottle)
Located in Bligny, in the vineyards of Aube, property of the Champagne House of GH Martel, Champagne of the Château de Bligny wine estate and the only Champagne that carries the appellation « Château » since it grows grapes and makes Champagne exclusively from its own vines (Récoltant Manipulant).
A traditional, neat look for an
extraordinary product.
Appearance
:
·
Golden yellow, with
green glints
·
Fine perlage
·
Subtle bead
·
Limpid and
bright
Nose :
·
Good expression,
source of rare sensations
·
The nose reveals
wonderful maturity together with great aromatic complexity, with delicate notes
of butter, brioche and pastries together with hints of prunes, candied apple
and pear, the result of blending 6 Champagne varietals in equal proportions:
three traditional varietals (Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and
Chardonnay) and three ancient varietals (Arbane, Petit Meslier and Pinot Blanc)
·
A hint of walnut
is a sure indication of the presence of ancient varietals, notably the Arbane and
Petit Meslier
Palate
:
·
A fresh, characteristic attack is followed
by remarkable mineral tension persisting throughout the entire tasting, regulated by the malolactic fermentation of the base wines
·
Subtle
effervescence
·
Acidulous and
lively finish, characterised by fresh citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit), a
classic mark of Chardonnay
·
Remarkable
length on the palate
With this 6 varietal Cuvée from
the Clos (ancient term for a walled or enclosed vineyard) of Château de Bligny, the Chef de Cave Christophe
Rappeneau signs an exclusive, moving Cuvée, with only 7,000 numbered
bottles produced, an image of the clos measuring 80 ares from which it was
obtained. The young vineyard suggests an exceptional future for this Cuvée,
a true memory of the champenois tradition. An absolute must have drink.
Superb on its own, as an aperitif
or during a meal.
