Guide VERON des Champagnes 2012
(around 18 Euros per bottle)
The House of Blondel
Champagne which set up in Ludes, in the Reims Mountain, runs a one lot vineyard
of 10 hectares. The latter benefits from a southerly aspect and is planted with
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The presentation of this
Champagne is traditional and festive.
The cork plugging is made
with a particle cork called “Mytik”, the latter giving evidence of all the
efforts agreed by the House of Champagne so as to avoid cork tastes.
Appearance :
· Yellow with green reflections
· Bright
· Fine with rich bubbles
· Closed-in Cordon
Aroma :
· Fleeting first nose, with a brioche
and bun dominant characteristic which proofs the maturity of the Champagne,
obtained by a long ageing on lath (3 years at the minimum)
·
The
aromas then appeal to you with their sensuality and complexity ; one will
notice the citrus (lemon, grapefruit), almond, hazelnut, fresh butter and
caramel overtones which are typical of a Champagne exclusively originated from
Chardonnay
· Lively, tensed and precise attack, obtained by a judiciously light
dosage (less than 8g/L of sugar), together with a perfect control of the
malolactic fermentation
·
The
mouth then conveys a large amplitude that could be qualified as deliciously
creamy
·
Finish
on citrus, slightly sour, emphasized by a delicious bitterness and some subtle
touches of pepper. Long on the palate
The
elegance and generosity of this Champagne Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Blondel
convey the know-how of Thierry Blondel, his maker. It also gives the Reims
Mountain area a fine and noble image of the Blancs de Blancs.
Ideal for the aperitif or to be served with a starter or seafood
