Guide VERON des Champagnes 2012
(around 29 euros per bottle)
Located in the heart of the
Champagne area since 1955, Beaumont des Crayères has been selling abroad 80% of
his Champagne on 5 continents.
The
presentation of this Champagne is original and luxurious. Its name is poetic.
The
date of disgorging is written on the flask, it proves that the time between
disgorging and shipment has been respected. The one we tasted has been
disgorged on January 12th 2010.
Appearance :
- Golden yellow with green
reflections
- Fine bubbles and refined
sparkling
- Luminous
Aroma :
- Open, with an impressive complexity. Its generosity brings straightaway
a singular emotion worthy of the year 1999
- The first nose expresses candied citrus (lemon, grapefruit,
clementine) accompanied with some elegant overtones of butter and buns
attesting the long ageing on lath
- Patience is at last rewarded by the appearance of almond, hazelnut, cocoa tinges but also of honey, coffee subtly roasted, prunes and morello cherries.
Taste :
- Racy and precise, amazing for a Champagne of this maturity, result
of the strict selection of grapes (65% of Chardonnay and 35% of Pinot
Noir) according to their soils and first press-juices during the pressing
- Delicate tinges of butter and brioche supported by a great
magnitude obtained thanks to a well-mastered transition in oak barrels
- Finale on citrus deliciously mineral and peppered
- Outstanding length on the palate.
With this blending Nostalgie, the
Beaumont des Crayères Champagne promises to be an exceptional Champagne.
Ideal for a festive aperitif or why not along the whole meal to accompany a starter or a farm capon.
