Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(Approximately 28 euros
a bottle)
Heir of long wine-making and enological
traditions, the Champagne Louis Barthélémy settled in Aÿ in 2011, in the heart
of Champagne, in the former royal presses of Henri IV, to better pursue his
quest for excellence. A careful selection of the grapes and a rigorous production
of the cuvées named after gems allow him it to market approximately 50,000
bottles of Champagnes every year, mainly for export.
Sober and original presentation.
Visual Aspect:
·
White gold.
·
Very fine bubbles.
·
Delicate bead of bubbles, persistent.
Nose:
·
Remarkable
complexity, improbable mix of powerfulness and sharpness.
·
Delightful
aromas of red fruits (blackcurrant, strawberry, raspberry), match with a touch
of kirsch and spices, signatures of the black vines (40% Pinot Noir and 40% Pinot
Meunier).
·
The
Chardonnay appears with delicate scents of citrus fruits, nectarine, apple and
pear, added with a hint of butter, with almond and hazelnut.
·
Patience
is rewarded by moving nuances of caramel, honey and beeswax, expressions of the
rising maturity of the cuvée obtained by 3 years of ageing on laths of the bottles
before disgorgement.
Palate:
·
Pure
first taste thanks to the absence of dosage (addition of sugar) at disgorgement,
strengthened by the rigorous selection of the first juices during the pressing
of the grapes.
·
The
palate then becomes caressing, thanks to the malolactic fermentation of the base
wines, served by a sophisticated effervescence.
·
Charmingly
tangy finish.
· Great length.
With this cuvée Zéro Dosage Topaze,
Jean Chancel, cellar master of the Champagne Louis Barthélémy, managed to find
the ideal blend with 70% of 2009 and 30% of 2008, to propose us an inspired Champagne.
To enjoy for the aperitif, or during a meal, to accompany a duck breast in honey and spices, for example.
