Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(approximately 65 euros a bottle)
Settled at Epernay since 1925, now chaired
by Thierry Lombard, the creator’s grandson, the Lombard et Cie CHampgne relies
on its 10-hectare vineyard and on a supply of 140 hectare, to craft and market
1,700,000 bottles of highly expressive Champagnes every a year, of which half
is exported.
Inimitable presentation, in a bottle
with the elegant features, created especially for this cuvée.
Visual
Aspect:
·
White
gold, bright.
·
Very fine bubbles.
·
Elegant
bead of bubbles, persistent.
Nose :
·
Blooming,
it aazes by its aromatic pallet, unexpected compromise between powerfulness and
sharpness.
·
Scents
of very ripe citrus, apple, pear, almond and hazelnut, slightly iodized and
mentholated, signatures of the Chardonnay (80%).
·
Later,
the cuvee reveals its maturity with glamourous nuances of honey, toast and
spices, evolving towards chocolate, the results of the long ageing on laths of the
bottles before disgorgement (4 years), but also some the élevage of 10% of the base
wines in 3 or 4-time used demi-muids (tanks
of 6 hL) during 6 months.
·
The
patience is rewarded by a hint of red fruits, an expression of the 20% of Pinot
Noir.
Palate:
·
Distinguished
first taste, allowed by the partial malolactic fermentation of the base wines.
·
The
palate then becomes caressing, fleshy, supported by the dense minerality, moving
mark of the Grand Crus (Mesnil-sur-Oger and Chouilly for the Chardonnay,
Verzenay for the Pinot Noir).
·
Particularly
dense finish, backed by the soft effervescence.
·
Impressive
length in the mouth.
With this confidential cuvee Tanagra
Brut Grand cru, Christophe Pitois, oenologist and deputy manager of the house, managed
to find the right blend, with 80% of wines from 2008 and 20% of reserve wines (2007
and 2006), to offer us an exceptional Champagne.
To enjoy during agastronomic meal,
with caviar on an oyster parmentier, for example.
