Mythical Champagne

Created in 1808, the Champagne Henriot is an independent family house, managed ceaselessly by the eponymous family, whose succession is guaranteed by the arrival, in 2008, of Thomas Henriot, eighth generation. Its 30-hectare vineyard and a close collaboration with faithful winegrowers guarantee a supply in selected grapes, with 2 thirds in the Premier and the Grand Crus and a majority of Chardonnay, to develop and market approximately 1,300,000 bottles a year of quality Champagnes.

Sober and luxurious presentation, for this symbolic cuvée of the brand, elaborated only for the exceptional years.

Visual aspect:

 

·        Golden.

·        Bubbles with a rare finesse.

·        Bead of refined bubbles.

 

Nose:

 

·        Ample and generous.

·        First marked by the Pinot Noir (50%), coming from 3 Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims (Mailly-Champagne, Verzy and Verzenay), with cheering aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry and cherry in brandy, with nuances of liquorice.

·        The Chardonnay (50%), selected in 4 Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs (Avize and Chouilly, complemented with Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger), then unveils with scents of citrus, apple and pear compote, dried apricot and raisins, chestnut, supported by salty notes.

·        Blooming maturity, on scents of butter, brioche and honey, obtained by 14 years of ageing on laths of the bottles before disgorgement.

 

Palate:

 

·        Unctuous first taste.

·        Then the palate becomes sensual and enveloping, maybe thanks to the realization of the malolactic fermentation on the base wines, underlined by an amazing minerality.

·        Delicate spicy finish.

·        Fabulous length on the palate.

 

With this Cuvée des Enchanteleurs 1998, Laurent Fresnet, cellar master of the Champagne Henriot, signs a successful Champagne in the pure Henriot style.

 

To taste for the aperitif or during a gastronomic meal, with a poultry supreme, for example.
