Settled in Aÿ since 1625, the Champagne
Henri Giraud carefully grows its 12-hectare vineyard established in the Grand
Cru of Aÿ, complemented by 15 hectares brought by wine growers faithful to the
house, to develop and market approximately 260,000 bottles of exceptional Champagnes,
of which half is exported (the United States, Asia and country of Europe).

Nose:

Intense
and of a rare complexity, it reveals slowly its spellbinding and infinite
universe.

Aromas
of apple and pear compote, with crystallized citrus, walnut, almond, hazelnut
and exotic fruit, signatures of the Chardonnay (25%).

Accomplished
maturity, with warm fragrances of honey evolving towards chocolate and roasted
coffee, the result of 8 years of ageing on laths, before disgorgement.
· The Pinot Noir (75%) reveals at last, on blooming notes of red berries (strawberry and cherry) and spices, sublimated by the subtle and delightful woodiness, marked by the vinification and élevage on whole lees (12 months), in small new barrels (maximum 5 to 6 years) of oak of the forest of Argonne.
Palate:

Pure
and mineral first taste.

The
palate then becomes ample and caressing, deep and structured, backed by a
tangible tension and a delicate sparkling.
· Deliciously spicy finish, supported by a dense and coating warmth.Fabulous length.
With this cuvée Argonne 2004, Claude Giraud successfully paired the terroir of gaize of the forest of Argonne, cradle of the Champagne, and the Grand Cru of Aÿ, exclusive origin of the grapes, to offer us a great wine of gastronomy.
To enjoy during the meal, to accompany a roasted partridge with chestnuts and chanterelles, for example.
