Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(approximately 49 euros a bottle)
Created in 1827, the Champagne G.H. Mumm, property of the Pernod Ricard group since 2005, relies on its vineyard of 218 hectares to elaborate 8 million bottles of Champagnes of quality every year, among which half is exported in more than 150 countries.
Emblematic
bottle of the brand. Original presentation, elegant and luxurious. Date of bottling
and disgorgement registered on the back label.
·
Golden, gleaming.
·
Fine bubbles.
·
Delicate ring of bubbles.
Nose:
·
Blooming
and harmonious, thanks to the respect of the long periods between the
disgorgement and the shipping.
·
The Champagne
immediately expresses an accomplished maturity, with warm perfumes of cocoa and
chocolate, revealing sometimes some notes of roasted coffee.
·
Cheering
red and black fruit aromas (raspberry, blackcurrant and blackberry), with captivating
shades of spirits, signatures of the Pinot Noir (60%) harvested at perfect
maturity in the noble terrois of Verzenay, Bouzy and Aÿ.
·
The Chardonnay
(40%), strictly selected in the Côte des Blancs (Cramant and Avize) finally
elegantly reveals, with scents of chrystallised citrus, apple and pear compote,
apricot and raisins, slightly mentholated.
Palate:
· Expresses straightaway a perfect balance between minerality and powerfulness,
thanks to the adjusted dosage with only 6 g/L of sugar added during the
disgorgement, served by an effervescence of a rare sweetness.
·
Thean becomes deep, with subtle spices (pepper and cinamon).
·
Broad finish.
· Exceptional length on the palate.
With
this cuvée Brut Sélection, Didier Mariotti, the cellar master of the Champagne
G.H. Mumm, managed to find the ideal blend, with 85% of 2008, 9% of 2007 and 6%
of 2006, to sign an inspired Champagne, which perpetuates the tribute to the
five historical Grand Crus of the house.
To taste during a festive meal, to match with grilled prawns, for example.
