Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(approximately 15 euros)
Wine grower in Ay in the great Marne valley for 7 generations, the Champagne Rene Roger and Sons cultivates its 8.5-hectare vineyard mainly set up in Ay, made of 75% of Pinot Noir and 255 of Chardonnay. 37,000 bottles of quality Champagne are produced and marketed each year, under the brand created in 1995.
Luxurious presentation.
Visual aspect:
·
Golden, shimmering.
·
Very fine bubbles
· Delicate bead, persistent after serving.
Nose :
·
Bewitching and sensual, its generosity gives immediately an
intense pleasure.
·
Red fruit aromas (strawberry, blackcurrant, blackberry and
raspberry), heightened by subtle notes of spices(cinnamon and pepper),
signature of Pinot Noir (25%) selected in the Ay grand cru.
·
Beautiful maturity, with sensual emanations of honey,
beeswax and grilled almond, obtained by the autolysis of the yeast of the
bottle fermentation during the 3 years spent ageing on laths before
disgorgement.
· The Chardonnay, main grape variety (75%), from Ay and Bassu, reveals finally all its elegance with scents of peach, citrus fruits, pear and white flowers, as well as a touch of exotic fruits.
Palate:
·
Neat attack, allowed by the selection of the first juice
(cuvee), purest, during the soft pressing of the grapes, carried by a startling
minerality that stays with us all through the tasting, and by a tonic
effervescence.
·
The mouth then becomes ample and warm thanks to the
realisation of the malolactic fermentation of the base wines and the generous
dosage, with 10g/L of added sugar during disgorgement.
· Very great length in the mouth.
With this cuvee Prestige, producers Rene and Laurent Roger knew how to find the ideal blend (80% of 2009 wines and 20% of reserve wines), to give us a Champagne full of character, good value for money.
To enjoy from the aperitif till during the meal, with Vichyssoises oysters, for example.
