Guide VERON des Champagnes 2016
(around
135 euros per bottle)
Champagne mythique
Sophisticated presentation with supreme luxury, jewel set with a cardinal red ring.
Aspect :
·
White gold, sparkling.
·
Extremely fine bubbles.
·
Scattered pearls of bubbles.
Nose :
·
Intense
and heady, captivating and endless aromatic symphony.
·
Perfect
maturity, with warm scents of honey, evolving towards soft tones of chocolate
and roasted coffee, result of the patient ageing on laths of the bottles (10
years), before disgorgement.
·
The
majority of Chardonnay (around 70%) unveils all its elegance, with some
fragrances of citrus fruits, apple, pear, almond and hazelnut, barely
mentholated.
·
Later,
first intermittently, radiant aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry and
strawberry are revealed, signatures of the Pinot Noir (around 30%).
Palate :
·
Classy and dense opening, supported by a vibrant
minerality, real life force, expression of the terroirs carefully selected, mainly in the Mountain of Reims.
·
The mouth then becomes sensual and deep, underlined by
the accurate effervescence.
·
Tasty and warm finish, subtly spicy.
·
Fabulous length on the palate.

Ideal to
accompany unique moments, from aperitif to meal, with a can with truffle, for
example.
Founded
in 1785, the Champagne House Piper-Heidsieck, integrated into the EPI
(Européenne de Participations Industrielles) group in 2011 and currently
chaired by Cécile Bonnefond, is based on a high level production tool with a
fermenting facility built in 1995 and on a vineyard conducted in the greatest
respect of the environment, to perpetuate the inimitable style of the brand.
