Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(approximately
16 euros)
Wine grower in Cumieres since 1946, the Champagne Pierre Bertrand cultivates with care its 6-hectare vineyard composed of a third of each of the Champagne grape varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier). A wine growing process respectful of the environment ( grass cover of the plots) and an attentive oenology allows it to elaborate and market about 15,000 bottles of quality Champagne per year.
Sober and luxurious presentation.
Visual aspect :
·
Golden, luminous.
·
Fine bubbles.
· Discreet bead.
Nose :
·
Delightful and voluptuous.
·
Warm aromas of honey, caramel, veering towards chocolate and
roasted coffee. Expressions of the cuvee's maturity, result of 7 years of
ageing before disgorgement.
·
The Chardonnay (50%), mainly selected on the premier cru
soil of Hautvillers, then reveals itself, on notes of crystallised apple and
pear, citrus fruits and hazelnuts, as well as a touch of exotic fruits.
· The patience is rewarded by the apparition of red fruits scents (blackcurrant, raspberry, strawberry and redcurrant), signature of Pinot Noir (50%), chosen in Cumieres.
Palate :
·
Lively attack, thanks to the rigorous selection of the first
juices (cuvee), purest, during the soft pressing of the grapes, but mainly
thanks to the judicious blockage of the malolactic fermentation of the base
wines, and to the adjusted dosage, with only 4g/L of added sugar at
disgorgement.
·
The mouth becomes deep, expression of the old vines (30 to
35 years old) on which the grapes were selected, carried by the minerality.
·
Plump and ample finish, emphasized by delicate spices.
· Great length in the mouth.
With this Brut Prestige, producer of the vintage and wine grower, Bertrand Deparnay, knew how to find the ideal blend between the grape varieties and the years (80% of 2005, complemented with 2004), to offer us a Champagne with a delightful generosity.
To enjoy during a meal, with a timbale of veal kidneys, for example.
