Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(Approximately 15 euros a bottle)
Settled at Verzenay since 1955, in the heart of the
Montagne de Reims, the Champagne Jean-Yves de Carlini carefully grows his 6,80-hectare
vineyard distributed on the Grand Crus of Verzenay and Verzy and on the first crus
of Villers-Marmery, Ludes-Le Coquet and Rilly-La-Montagne, to elaborate
approximately 75,000 bottles a year of quality Champagnes.
Traditional and luxurious presentation.
Visual Aspect:
·
Golden.
·
Fine and festive bubbles.
·
Discreet and persistent bead of bubbles.
Nose :
· Elegant and sensual, it reveals all the maturity of the cuvée straightaway, with generous nuances of chocolate, brioche and caramel, subtly roasted, result of the patient ageing on laths of the bottles, with a slow autolysis of the yeasts of the bottle fermentation. Quickly, the nose evolves towards sweet notes of apple, pear and citrus fruits, thanks to the 25% Chardonnay, married of heading scents of red fruits (cherry, blackcurrant and raspberry), signatures of the 75% of Pinot Noir.
Palate :
·
Tonic first taste, very tense, allowed by the absence
of dosage at the disgorgement of the bottles, strengthened by the minerality, marked
with the soils of origin of the grapes, mainly Grand Crus.
·
The mouth quickly evolves towards a sweet and creamy roundness,
supported by a sensation of coating warmth, maybe strengthened by the judicious
malolactic fermentation of the base wines.
·
Ample finish, with delicate spices (pepper, cinnamon).
· Great length in the mouth.
With this cuvée Brut Nature, producer Jean-Yves de Carlini managed to realize the right blend, to offer us a moving, well-balanced Champagne and of good value for money.
To enjoy for the aperitif, or why not during the meal, to accompany a supreme of poultry with peanuts, for example.
