Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015(approximately
21 euros)
Settled in Chigny-les-Roses, in the Reims mountain, the champagne Hilaire Leroux relies on its 7 hectare vineyard situated on 5 premiers crus of the Reims mountain (Chigny-les-Roses, Ludes, Rilly-la-Montagne, Montbre and Taissy) to elaborate and market around 55 000 bottles of champagne of character per year.
Authentic and luxurious presentation.
Visual
aspect :
- Golden and twinkling.
- Fine bubbles.
- Discreet bead, persistent after service.
Nose :
- Sensual, powerful and harmonious.
- First noticed, the chardonnay (50%) with
exquisite scents of citrus fruits, apple, pear, peach and white flowers,
as well as nuances of apricot and raisins.
- The nose then reveals its maturity, warm, with
scents of brioche, honey and caramel, evolving towards toasted bread,
result of 6 years of ageing on
laths before disgorgement.
- The patience is rewarded by the apparition of pleasant aromas of red fruits and delicate spices, signatures of the pinot noir (30%) and of the pinot meunier (20%).
Palate :
- Lively entry in the mouth, thanks to the rigorous
selection of the first juices (cuvee), purest, during the pressing of the
grapes and to the judicious blockage of the malolactic fermentation on the
base wines.
- The mouth then reveals a beautiful balance between
a tame power and a minerality ever so slightly iodized, mark of the grapes
from the premiers crus soils, north of the Reims mountain
(Chigny-les-Roses, Rilly-la-Montagne ans Ludes).
- Warm finish permitted by the generous dosage
(10g/L of added sugar), and deliciously slightly acid.
- Remarkable length in the mouth.
With this Millesime 2006 Premier Cru, producer Patrice Leroux knew how to use a soft and precise oenology to offer us a moving interpretation of the year 2006.
To enjoy during the aperitif or a meal with friends, with a scampi tartar, for example.
