Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(approximately
19 euros)
Wine grower in Villenauxe-la-Grande in the Sezannais for 3 generations, the champagne Frederic Torchet relies on its 7 hectare vineyard, cultivated in the respect of the environment, mainly planted with chardonnay (80%), to elaborate and market 30 000 bottles of quality champagne each year.
Luxurious and carefully crafted presentation, very successful. Original flask engraved with an elegant fleur-de-lis.
Visual
aspect :
- Pale yellow, luminous, with discreet tints of
green.
- Fine bubbles.
- Discreet bead, persistent around the flute after service.
Nose :
- Rich and blossoming.
- Generous aromas of fresh butter, caramel,
evolving imperceptibly towards a hint of roasting, expressions of the
rising maturity of the cuvee, obtained after 4 years of ageing on laths
before disgorgement, with autolysis of the yeast of the prise de mousse.
- The chardonnay, exclusive grape variety of the champagne, then reveals itself with subtle scents of apple, pear, lemon and white flowers, delicately mentholated.
Palate :
- Pure attack, straight, vivifying, result of the
judicious blockage of the malolactic fermentation on the base wines,
carried by the minerality of the chalky soils.
- The palate then reveals a soft warmth,
captivating, with a creamy effervescence.
- We find again the citrus fruits mentionned in the
nose, as well as hints of exotic fruits.
- Deliciously slightly acid finish.
- Great length in the mouth.
With this Cuvee Millesime 2008, producers Frederic Torchet and his son Pierre-Henri, knew how to make the most of this great vintage, to give us a delightful blanc de blancs, good value for money, beautiful interpretation of the Villenauxe-la-Grande region.
