Guide VERON des Champagnes 2016
(around 37 euros per bottle)
Sober and careful presentation. Very informative back label, to understand better the wine grower approach.
Aspect :
·
Gold, bright.
·
Fine bubbles.
·
Delicate bead of bubbles.
Nose :
·
Harmonious, it reveals its
complexity endlessly, signature of the rare blending of six varietals (the
traditional ones, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier coupled with the
ancestral ones, Pinot Blanc, Arbane and Petit Meslier), fermented by the
indigenous yeasts of the terroir.
·
Radiant aromas of apple, pear,
peach and citrus fruits, combined with some iodized and mentholated touches,
and some fragrances of soft spices allowed by the vinification in wood, in
demi-muids.
·
Patience is rewarded by the
appearance of delicious scents of red and black fruits, definitely due to the black
varietals.
Palate :
·
Pure attack, reinforced by the adjusted dosage with
only 5 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement, and enhanced by the vibrant
minerality of the plot of 20 ares of Avize, La Fosse à Bull, planted in 2003,
exclusive origin of the grapes.
·
The mouth then becomes dense, deep and warm, supported
by a silky effervescence.
·
The tension takes us into a joyful finish.
·
Impressive length on the palate.

To taste
absolutely, to accompany a mallard duck with orange, for example.
Founded at the end of the 19th
century, the Champagne House Agrapart et Fils tries hard to enhance the terroirs of its wine estate of 10
hectares containing 50 plots of old vines, mainly established in the Grands
Crus of Avize, Oger, Cramant, and Oiry, in the Côte des Blancs. A deep respect
of the soils and a gentle and creative oenology give birth to highly expressive
Champagnes.
