Guide VERON des Champagnes 2017
(around 21 euros per
bottle)
Original, sober and luxurious bottle.
Aspect:
Golden
and bright.
Fine
and festive bubbles, brilliant.
Fine
bead of foam, persistent.
Nose:
Harmonious
and with remarkable complexity, it provides immediately an intense pleasure.
Delicate
compilation of red and black fruits (cherry, raspberry, strawberry, blackberry
and blackcurrant), barely spicy, touching expression of the Pinot Noir (50%)
carefully selected on the Grand Cru of Mailly-Champagne.
The
nose reveals its finesse and its elegance with refined scents of citrus fruits
(lemon and grapefruit), green apple, apricot and mango, thanks to the
Chardonnay (50%) chosen in the Premier Cru of Taissy.
Palate:
Deep
and tasty attack, coupled with intense freshness and minerality, definitely
obtained by the rigorous selection of the first juices (cuvée), purer, during the soft pressing of the grapes.
The
mouth then becomes gourmet and warm, supported by a dynamic and creamy
effervescence, result of the judicious fulfillment of the malolactic
fermentation of the base wines.
Generous
finish, punctuated by spices, notes of brioche and caramel, translation of the
emerging maturity of the cuvée.
Remarkable
length on the palate.
Patrick
Manceaux, its producer, was able to compose a delicate harmony between vintages
(60% from 2012, 30% from 2011 and 10% from 2010) and the accurate dosage, with
7 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement, to offer us a totally seductive cuvée Brut Grande Réserve.
To taste from
aperitif to meal, with a roast duckling and red fruits, for example.
