Luxurious presentation.
Aspect:
Gold, bright.
Fine and festive bubbles.
Fine bead of foam.
Nose:
Initially shy, the nose slowly becomes radiant.
Generous aromas of honey and caramel, evolving towards cocoa and roasted coffee, expressions of the joyful maturity of the cuvée obtained by a long ageing on laths (5 years), before disgorgement.
The Chardonnay, exclusive varietal of the Champagne, is then revealed with its scents of apple, pear and Mirabelle plum, supported by an iodized breath, signatures of the Grands Crus terroirs of the Côte des Blancs (Cramant and Avize).
Palate:
Dense and deep opening, thanks to the selection of grapes from the oldest plots of the wine estate (around 60 years old), harvested by hand in 2008 (50%) and 2009 (50%).
The mouth becomes caress, delicate characteristic sign of the ageing of the base wines in oak barrels aged 10 to 15 years, for 6 months, with bâtonnages.
Finish highlighted by a heady vital force, result of the selection of the first juices (cuvée) during the slow pressing of the grapes in a press from 1938, reinforced by the absence of malolactic fermentation of the base wines and by the adjusted dosage with 5 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement.
Great length on the palate.
Denis Petitjean was able to rediscover the ancestral expertises passed down by his grandfather, to offer us this remarkable Cuvée Prestige.
Ideal from aperitif to late in the evening, with a partridge and wild mushrooms, for example.
Now directed by Denis Petitjean and his wife Dominique, joined by their daughter Marie in 2004, 6th generation of wine growers, the Champagne House Petitjean-Pienne perpetuates with passion, in Cramant, the family traditions. A 4 hectares vineyard, mainly planted with Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs, cultivated in the greatest respect of the environment, and a gentle and controlled oenology, give birth to around 25,000 bottles of Champagnes with personality each year, under the brand created in 1981.
