Guide VERON des Champagnes 2017
(around
17 euros per bottle)
Sober and neat presentation.
Aspect:
Golden,
brilliant.
Particularly
fine bubbles.
Bead
of scattered bubbles persistent on the periphery of the flute.
Nose:
Initially
generous, source of intense pleasure.
First
marked by the majority of Pinot Noir (70%), with heady flavours of nice ripe
red and black fruits (cherry, blackcurrant and strawberry), punctuated by
delicate spices (vanilla and white pepper).
The
Chardonnay (30%) then unveils its elegance with reserved touches, and then more
clearly, with its scents of citrus fruits, almond and hazelnut, apple and pear,
coupled with improbable hints of exotic fruits (pineapple, kiwi, apricot and
mango).
Palate:
Deep
and deliciously acidulous attack, obtained by the selection of the first juices
(cuvée), during the soft pressing of
the grapes.
The
mouth is extremely soft, silky, signature of the beautiful maturity of the cuvée, obtained by a long ageing on
laths of the bottles (3 years) before disgorgement, reinforced by the judicious
fulfillment of the malolactic fermentation of the base wines and an accurate
dosage.
Tasty
finish, barely spicy.
Great
length on the palate.
With
this Cuvée de Réserve, Michaël Francinet, wine grower, was able to compose the
blending of varietals and vintages (70% from 2011 completed by 30% of reserve
wines), to sign an inspired interpretation of the Grand Cru of Verzenay on
which the grapes were carefully selected.
To
taste during meals among friends, to accompany a Bresse poultry with rhubarb,
for example.
Settled in the
heart of the Mountain of Reims, in Verzenay, the Champagne House Francinet et
Fils perpetuates the champenois
traditions since 1910. A vineyard of 6.26 hectares mainly planted on the Grands
Crus of Verzenay and Verzy, cultivated with care in the greatest respect of the
environment, and a controlled oenology give birth to around 42,000 bottles of
highly expressive Champagnes each year.
