Aspect:
Golden.
Delicate
bubbles.

Nose:
Source
of rare emotions, definitely thanks to the very long period (1 year) between
disgorgement and commercialisation.
The
touches of citrus fruits, apple, pear and candied exotic fruits, signatures of
the Chardonnay (47 %), gently interlace the fragrances of red and black fruits
and soft spices, expressions of the Pinot Noir (53 %).
The
radiant maturity of the cuvée,
obtained by 8 years of ageing on laths before disgorgement in the chalk pits of
the House, is then unveiled with its scents of honey and pastries, evolving
towards roasted coffee.
Palate:
Dense
and lively opening, reinforced by the attentive selection of the first juices (cuvée) during the pressing of the grapes
and by an adjusted dosage.
The
mouth becomes caressing, improbable balance between tasty richness and mineral
tension of the chalk.
Delicious
finish.
Interminable
length on the palate.
Dominique
Demarville, cellar master of the champagne House Veuve Clicquot, was able to
reinvent in 2006 the historic blending of the 8 favourite Grands Crus of the
Veuve Clicquot, with Verzy, Verzenay, Bouzy, Ambonnay and Aÿ for the Pinot Noir
(53 %) and Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for the Chardonnay (47 %), to
perpetuate the inimitable of this cuvée
La Grande Dame, born with the 1962 vintage to celebrate the bicentenary of
the House.
Ideal from
aperitif to meal, with wild king prawns marinated in citrus fruits, for
example.
Founded in 1772,
