Guide VERON des Champagnes 2018
(around 50 euros per
bottle)
Numbered bottle, sober
and elegant. Cuvée created as a
tribute to the champenois wine
growers founding revolution in 1911.
Aspect:
Gold, dense and
brilliant.
Fine and dynamic
bubbles.
Fine bead of foam,
persistent.
Nose:
Voluptuous, endless
aromatic seduction.
Fragrances of citrus
fruits, apple, white flowers, almond and hazelnut, subtly iodized and
mentholated, breath of the majority of Chardonnay (65%).
Later, the candied red
and black fruits are unveiled, characteristic sign of the Pinot Noir (35%),
gourmet introduction to the touches of caramel and roasted coffee with subtle
woody notes, obtained by the long ageing of the bottles on laths (7 years)
before riddling and disgorgement.
Palate:
Lively attack, thanks to
the timely stop of the malolactic fermentation of the base wines, enhanced by
the delicious minerality.
The mouth becomes soft,
sensual and warm, highlighted by the lively and creamy effervescence.
Finish supported by a
fresh breath, barely spicy.
Remarkable length on the
palate.
With this reserved cuvée Origine 1911 Millésime 2008 (2,500
bottles), supplied in a wood box, Eric and Yannick Prévoteau were able to
orchestrate the osmosis between varietals and terroirs (three localities: Les Hautes Plantes in the Vitryat and
Les Barsaux in Venteuil for the Chardonnay, Les Barils in Venteuil for the
Pinot Noir), to revive with talent the history of Champagne.
Ideal as an aperitif and
during a meal, with an oysters Tartar, for example.
Wine grower in Damery,
in the Marne Valley, the Champagne House Yannick Prévoteau has been
perpetuating the family champenois
traditions for 5 generations. Driven by the desire to reduce the environmental
footprint, it cultivates with care its vineyard of 10.30 hectares, spread over
12 terroirs. An accurate œnology,
between parcelled vinifications in small volumes and inspired blendings, gives
birth each year to around 90,000 bottles of a range of Champagnes with
personality.
