Guide VERON des Champagnes 2018
(around 26 euros per
bottle)
Elegant and luxurious
bottle.
Aspect:
Golden and brilliant.
Extremely fine bubbles.
Delicate bead of foam,
persistent.
Nose:
Sensual and harmonious,
it takes us into a heady aromatic whirl.
The Pinot Noir (90%)
gently establishes itself, both powerful and generous, with radiant fragrances
of red and black fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cherry, blackcurrant and
blackberry), highlighted by touching scents of citrus fruits and white fruits,
characteristic sign of the Chardonnay (10%).
Patience is rewarded by
the appearance of warm touches of honey and pastries, barely toasted and spicy,
translations of the fullness of the cuvée
obtained by 6 years of patient ageing on laths of the bottles before riddling
and disgorgement.
Palate:
Gourmet and dense
opening, supported by a vertiginous minerality.
The mouth is then
revealed, ample and generous, touching, definitely thanks to the judicious
fulfilment of the malolactic fermentation of the base wines.
Captivating finish,
enhanced by the soft and silky effervescence.
Great length on the
palate.
With this Brut Millésime
2011 - Grand Cru emblematic of the House, Eric and Bruno Vesselle were able to
accompany with gentleness grapes harvested by hand in 2011, at perfect
ripeness, to read with sensitivity into the fascinating score of the Grand Cru terroir of Bouzy.
To taste from aperitif
to meal, with a milk-fed veal, girolle mushrooms and chestnuts, for example.
Now directed by Bruno
Vesselle for business development and by his brother Eric for cultivation of vineyards
and vinifications, the Champagne House Georges Vesselle has been perpetuating
their father’s passion, creator of the eponymous brand in 1951. A vineyard of
17 hectares composed of 21 plots of vine, well-exposed in the Grand Cru of
Bouzy, in the heart of the Mountain of Reims, and an inspired œnology, give
birth to around 200,000 bottles per year of a range of highly expressive
Champagnes.
