Guide VERON des Champagnes 2019
(around
54 euros per bottle)
Transparent bottle, exact replica of the original bottle
used in the XVIIIth century.
Aspect:
Golden,
with light emerald-green reflections.
Refined
and elegant bubbles.
Nose:
Outstanding and endless aromatic melody.
The Chardonnay of noble origins (Avize,
Chouilly, Cramant, Villers-Marmery, Trépail...), carefully harvested by hand
between Côte des Blancs and Mountain of Reims, takes us with its delicate
scents of white fruits, citrus fruits, anise and white flowers.
Later, the nose becomes softer with generous
notes of caramel and pastries, sensual characteristic signs of the champagne
maturity obtained after 3 years of patient ageing on lees before disgorgement.
Palate:
Heady liveliness to start with, reflection of
the rigorous selection of the first juices during the delicate pressing of the
grapes, reinforced by the carefully avoided malolactic fermentation of the base
wines.
Later, the mouth becomes a sensual caress,
supported by an accurate dosage with 8 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement.
Finish driven by the outstanding minerality
of the chalk.
Remarkable length on the palate.
With this Grand Blanc de Blancs
Brut, Jean-Pierre Mareigner, now deceased, passes down to Odilon de Varine, his
successor, a touching champagne, in the pure style Gosset.
Ideal as an aperitif or during festive meals,
with fried prawns, for example.
Founded in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, the
Champagne house Gosset has been perpetuating the family champenois traditions for 17 generations. The label
« Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant » and the nomination as
« artisan d’excellence du champagne » come to reward over four centuries
of endless quest for exception. Thus, this is around 1 million of rare champagne
bottles that are crafted each year, without malolactic fermentation, in the
facilities of Epernay (winery of 26,000 hL room and 1.7 km of cellars) on a 2
hectares parkland purchased by the house in 2009.
