Sober,
original and elegant bottle.
Aspect:
Golden, dense
and bright.
Refined
bubbles.
Delicate bead
of bubbles, persistent.
Nose:
Radiant and
sensual, source of intense emotions.
Generous
fragrances of caramel, honey and beeswax, highlighted by generous touches of
spices, captivating expression of the fullness of the cuvée obtained by 9 years of ageing on laths of the bottles, with
patient autolysis of the prise de mousse
yeasts, before riddling and disgorgement.
The
Chardonnay (50%) carefully chosen in the beautiful terroirs of Aÿ and Bassu, is then unveiled, initially reserved and
then more confident, with its notes of apple, pear and candied citrus fruits.
Palate:
Lively
opening, supported by a tasty minerality, enhanced by the rigorous selection of
the first juices (cuvée) during the
soft pressing of the grapes, and by the adjusted dosage with only 5 g/L of
sugar added at disgorgement.
Beautiful
presence and caressing warmth, coupled with touches of red and black fruits (blackcurrant,
strawberry, raspberry and blackberry), expressions of the Pinot Noir (50%) of
noble origins (Aÿ), supported by the judicious fulfilment of the malolactic
fermentation of the base wines.
Interminable
finish, deliciously acidulous.
Remarkable
length on the palate.
For this
Cuvée Muse de Champagne, Laurent Roger and his father René were able to
accompany with talent grapes harvested by hand, mainly in 2007, at perfect
ripeness, to offer us a rare and inspired champagne, with a very good value for
money.
Ideal from aperitif to meal, with a pan-fried
foie gras, for example.
Established in Aÿ since
1605, the Champagne house René Roger now directed by Laurent, twelfth
generation, cultivates with passion its vineyard of 8 hectares, mainly implanted
in the historical terroir of Aÿ
(Grand Cru), Mareuil-sur-Aÿ (Premier Cru) and Bassu. A traditional and accurate
œnology gives birth each year to around 33,000 bottles of highly expressive champagnes.
