Guide VERON des Champagnes 2020
(around
90 euros per bottle)
Mythical champagne
Refined bottle,
emblematic of the brand, used by the house since the 18th century. Refined and
well matched booklet and box.
Aspect:
Gold,
bright.
Delicate
effervescence.
Promising
tears.
Nose:
Radiant
generosity.
The
majority of Chardonnay (70%) immediately establishes itself with touching hints
of candied citrus fruits, white flowers, nice ripe apple and pear, deliciously
iodized.
Patience
is rewarded by the appearance of scents of red fruits compote, signatures of
the Pinot Noir (30%).
Palate:
Heady
tension at the opening, highlighted by the adjusted dosage with 6 g/L of
sugar added at disgorgement and enhanced by the brilliant minerality of the
chalk of the Grands Crus (Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant and Oger for the
Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs and Verzenay for the Pinot Noir in the
Mountain of Reims).
The
champagne becomes a sensual caress, driven by the lively effervescence,
characteristic sign of the fullness obtained by 13 years of patient ageing of
the bottles on laths, with autolysis of the prise
de mousse yeasts.
Endless
length on the palate.
For this
Noble Cuvée Brut 2002, Hervé Dantan, cellar master of the Champagne house
Lanson, was able to enhance this exceptional year 2002, in the pure Lanson
style, to sign a new opus of this cuvée
created in 1979.
To taste
as an aperitif or during a meal, to accompany a cooked turbot, carrots and
honey, for example.
Founded
in 1760, the Champagne House Lanson put its dynamism in the service of its
perpetual quest of the perfection. Hervé Dantan, cellar master of the house
since 2014, orchestrated an unprecedented modernization of the
production tool with the creation of a new fermenting room and a wood winery,
from which the barrels are reserved for the Clos Lanson. A majority of Pinot
Noir and Chardonnay and the intentional stop of the malolactic fermentation, in
accordance with the oenological history of Champagne, give birth to Champagnes with
inimitable style.
