Guide VERON des Champagnes 2019
(around
23 euros per bottle)
Sober and festive bottle.
Aspect:
White gold with ruby red glints.
Refined bubbles.
Fine bead of foam.
Nose:
Generous and sensual.
The Chardonnay, exclusive variety of the champagne,
harvested by hand in old plots, becomes more confident with its radiant scents
of apple, pear, citrus fruits and white flowers.
The cuvée
slowly unveils its maturity, with its captivating notes of caramel and honey,
delicately smoked and roasted, result of the long ageing, first in vats, and
then in bottles on laths with autolysis of the prise de mousse yeasts, before riddling and disgorgement.
Palate:
Deep opening, deliciously mineral.
Tension gives way to a heady balance, between
gentle and enveloping warmth and assumed elegance, underlined by an adjusted
dosage with only 6 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement, thanks to the inspired blending of the base
wines from different years, of which half is stored for the next cuvée.
Deliciously acidulous finish, intense.
Very great length on the palate.
For this exciting Blanc de
Blancs Brut - Eclat de Chardonnay, Philippe Secondé, œnologist wine grower,
orchestrate with sensitivity the osmosis between chalk of Bouzy, Grand Cru of
the Côte des Noirs in the Mountain of Reims, cradle of the house, and the
deeper soils on hard limestone of Brasles, in the Marne Valley.
Ideal to accompany you from
aperitif to meal, with a blue lobster, for example.
Since Edmond Barnaut, true
visionary, produced the first bottle of the cuvée
La Grande Réserve in 1874, Laurette and Philippe Secondé, fifth generation,
have been perpetuating with passion the family traditions. Resolutely committed
to an ecofriendly approach to reduce the environmental footprint, they
cultivate with care their 17 hectares vineyard, to craft a collection of rare
champagnes, variations inspired around terroirs
of Champagne and of the Grand Cru of Bouzy.
