Bottle with generous forms,
original reproduction of a bottle of the XVIIIth century. Name
evocative of the plot covered with ashes during the fire of Urville in 1838.
Aspect:
Golden
and brilliant.
Bubbles
of a rare finesse.
Fine
bead of foam.
Nose:
Sensual
and radiant harmony, reinforced by the very low dosage of sulphur during
production.
The
aromas of candied red and black fruits and kirsch, delicious signatures of the
Pinot Noir (55%) are delicately combined with touches of fresh mint, nice ripe
apple and pear, thanks to the Chardonnay (45%).
Later, the cuvée affirms its fabulous fullness with sensual notes of cocoa and roasted coffee, characteristic signs of 9 long years of ageing on lees of prise de mousse yeasts.
Palate:
Vertiginous
tension, the one of the first juices (cuvée)
selected during the pressing of the grapes, supported by the bright minerality
of the chalk.
The
mouth becomes caressing, captivating, underlined by the passage in barrels of
the expedition liqueur used for the dosage with 5 g/L of sugar.
Dense
finish.
Endless
length on the palate.
For
this Grande Sendrée 2008, Michel Drappier was able to accompany with
sensitivity grapes harvested by hand, without pumping nor filtration, to sign a
rare champagne, unmissable.
Ideal
as an aperitif, but especially during a meal, with truffles in a puff pastry,
for example.
At
a time when Charline, Hugo and Antoine, 8th generation, join their
father Michel Drappier within the family company, the Champagne house Drappier
has been perpetuating in Urville its endless quest for excellence started in
1808 and establishes itself on the most prestigious tables. Based on a
60 hectares vineyard, between the original Côte des Bar and the terroirs of the Mountain of Reims and
the Côte des Blancs, the house, now carbon neutral, produces with accuracy rare
champagnes, lightly sulphited, dominated by the Pinot Noir, true ADN of the
house.
