Guide VERON des Champagnes 2020
(around 47 euros per bottle)
Sober and luxurious bottle.
Aspect:
Golden
and crystal-clear.
Refined
bubbles.
Delicate
bead of bubbles, persistent after service of the flute.
Nose:
Radiant
generosity.
The
fragrances of candied citrus fruits, nice ripe apple and pear, highlighted by a
deliciously mentholated breath, outstanding signatures of the Chardonnay (50%),
deeply mingle with sensual aromas of red and black fruits punctuated by soft
spices, characteristic signs of the Pinot Noir (50%).
Later,
the fullness of the champagne is unveiled with captivating scents of pastry,
and then of caramel and roasted coffee, result of 5 years of ageing of the
wine, patiently magnified by the autolysis of the prise de mousse yeasts.
Palate:
Brilliant
vitality, dense and deep at the opening, obtained by the rigorous selection of
the first juices (cuvée) during the
soft pressing of the grapes, in the greatest respect of the champenois tradition.
The
tension gives way to a gentle and smooth caress, marked by the subtle and
creamy effervescence.
Bright
and balanced finish, supported by a heat wave and driven by the minerality of
the chalk.
Remarkable
length on the palate.
With
this Brut Millésimé 2013, Loïc Dupont, cellar master of the Champagne house
Taittinger, was able to select with care the best plots, of which 70% of Grands
Crus and 30% of Premiers Crus, to offer us a remarkable interpretation of this,
now too rare, October harvesting.
To
taste from aperitif to meal, with a thrush and juniper, for example.
Fiercely attached to champenois
values, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger, his daughter Vitalie, artistic director and
muse of the brand and his elder son Clovis, export director, have been
perpetuating with daring the inimitable style of the house. Thanks to the 288
hectares vineyard, cultivated in the greatest respect of the environment,
without using herbicides, the Champagne house Taittinger crafts rare
champagnes, variations inspired around great terroirs of Chardonnay.
