Guide VERON des Champagnes 2020
(around 23 euros per bottle)
Neat and elegant presentation.
Aspect:
Pale
gold, coupled with reserved emerald glints.
Delicate
effervescence.
Fine
bead of foam, regular.
Nose:
Heady
and refined sensuality.
The
Chardonnay, exclusive varietal of the cuvée,
carefully selected in the locality « La Chalterie » in Boursault in 2013,
delicately becomes more confident with aromas of candied citrus fruits, nice
ripe apple and pear, almond and hazelnut, supported by a mentholated breath.
Later,
sensual notes of pastries, caramel and roasted coffee reveal the perfect
maturity of the champagne, obtained by 4 years of ageing on laths of the
bottles before riddling and disgorgement.
Palate:
The
purity of the opening, obtained by the rigorous selection of the juices from
the first pressing (cuvée), takes us,
underlined by the delicious minerality.
The
mouth is slowly unveiled, supple and creamy, definitely thanks to the judicious
fulfilment of the malolactic fermentation of the base wines then aged on fine
lees for 6 months.
Tasty
and acidulous finish, highlighted by a tinge of spices.
Impressive
length on the palate.
With
this Millésime 2013, Bruno de Villepin signs with talent his first blanc de blancs vintage, from a
parcelled vinification, to better revisit the beautiful terroir of Boursault. A touching champagne, to taste absolutely.
Ideal as an aperitif or during a meal, with a sea bass on plancha and
new potatoes, for example.
Heir to 10 generations of wine growers and in a continuing effort to
reduce the environmental footprint, Bruno de Villepin cultivates with passion,
since 1999, his 7 hectares vineyard, certified High Environmental Value
and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne, of which 2 hectares are totally
covered with grass. He accompanies with gentleness and accuracy his grapes
harvested by hand, carefully insulating each plot for vinification, to
perfectly preserve all the original character into the bottles of champagnes.
