Guide VERON des Champagnes 2020
(around 45 euros per bottle)
Sober and luxurious bottle.
Aspect:
Golden
and brilliant.
Refined
effervescence.
Reserved
bead of foam, persistent.
Nose:
Harmonious
ballet of outstanding fragrances.
The
generous aromas of nice ripe red and black fruits, supported by delicate
spices, characteristic signs of the black varietals (40% Pinot Noir and 20%
Meunier) subtly mingle with elegant scents of candied citrus fruits, fig and
dried apricot, signatures of the chardonay (40%).
Patience
is rewarded by the appearance of sensual touches of honey and roasted coffee
which gently establish themselves, revelations of the radiant maturity obtained
by 8 years of patient ageing on laths of the bottles, before riddling and
disgorgement.
Palate:
Deep
and balanced opening, highlighted by the tasty minerality of the Premiers Crus,
exclusive origins of the grapes carefully harvested by hand in 2009.
An
ample roundness is revealed, driven by the adjusted effervescence and
reinforced by the 7 g/L of sugar added during the dosage, right after
disgorgement.
Deliciously
acidulous finish, enhanced by a warm breath.
Very
great length on the palate.
With this Brut
Millésime 2009, Alexandre Cattier was able to compose the inspired blending of
the varietals and terroirs, to sign a
radiant champagne, source of unforgettable emotions.
Ideal
as an aperitif or to accompany the meal among friends, with a beef tenderloin
and shallots, for example.
Wine growers in Chigny-les-Roses since 1625, the
Cattier family continues his endless quest for excellence since the production
of the first bottles in 1916 by Jean Cattier (father). The 33 hectares vineyard
composed of the three champenois varietals, mainly established in the
Premiers Crus of the Mountain of Reims, is cultivated with the greatest care,
following the example of Le Clos du Moulin with 2.20 hectares, first Clos of
Champagne acquired in 1951, cultivated with horse and vinified separately. Around
600,000 bottles of rare champagnes are thus crafted and shipped each year in
over 80 countries.
