Guide VERON des Champagnes 2020
(around 30 euros per bottle)
Refined and harmonious presentation. Name evocative of the regent
festive spirit, Philippe d’Orléans, in the 18th century.
Aspect:
Gold,
crystal-clear.
Fine
bubbles.
Delicate
bead of bubbles, persistent after service of the flute.
Nose:
Radiant
generosity, source of rare emotions.
The
champagne immediately reveals its maturity, obtained by 5 years of ageing on
laths of the bottles at constant temperature (12°C), with heady scents of honey
and caramel subtly toasted and roasted.
Later,
the majority of Chardonnay (80%) establishes its grace with its touches of
white fruits compote, citrus fruits and white flowers, punctuated by aromas of
candied red and black fruits thanks to the Pinot Noir (20%).
Palate:
Beautiful
vitality at the opening, highlighted by the tension and the brilliant
minerality of the noble terroirs in
which grapes were carefully harvested by hand, mainly in 2012.
The
mouth is slowly unveiled, supple and creamy, supported by the 8 g/L of
sugar added during the dosage, at disgorgement.
Balanced,
lively and acidulous finish.
Endless
length on the palate.
This Brut Régence, first champagne marketed by
the house in 2013, embodies the daring of Alexandre Cornot, Chief Executive
Officer of the Champagne house Brimoncourt, to continue his quest for
excellence, between rigour and uninhibited elegance.
Ideal from aperitif to meal, with a red mullet
fillet, for example.
A touch of madness and imagination, with a great
passion for Champagne, rigour combined with elegance and boldness, these are
the ingredients which led Alexandre Cornot to achieve the impossible in 2008:
to create his own Champagne house. He put his creativity in the service of the
grapes, mainly Chardonnay, chosen in the best terroirs of Champagne, to establish his casual and spontaneous
style, and to produce each year with his team around 250,000 bottles of fresh
and elegant champagnes.
